This Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
provides confidential, professional counseling, education, and referral services to employees and their family members. 

Virginia State Employees Emergency Fund (VSEEF)
This program supports active employees who have emergencies.  Funds are made through short-term grants payable to companies, not individuals.

Virginia State Employee Loan Program 
This program is available to active, classified full-time non-probationary employees who have been employed with the Commonwealth for at least 12 months.  Employees who are paid on a monthly or semi-monthly (1st and 16th) are eligible for this program.

Programs and Resources

Virginia Retirement System (VRS)
VRS is a defined benefit plan in which participants are eligible to retire... (1) with full benefits at age 65 with at least five years of service or (2) as early as age 50 with 30 years of service.  A reduced benefit is available at age 50 with 10 years of service or at age 55 with five years of service
.

VCU Optional Retirement Plan (ORP)
The ORP is a defined contribution plan in which eligible VCU faculty may elect to participate in lieu of participating in the VRS.  The University makes a contribution of 10.4% of creditable compensation for ORP participants.

Tax-Deferred (TDA) Annuity (403b) Program
The TDA is a tax-savings program in which eligible faculty and staff set aside money (on a pre-tax basis) to build income for retirement.

Purchase of Prior VRS Service
The Virginia General Assembly passed legislation that simplified and expanded the ability for employees to purchase credit for prior service.
