The following courses are part of the Technical/Timekeeping training track. Each course includes a description and most include a link the current registration schedule where you can see if it’s currently being offered.

Banner Basic Navigation [TPA] Provides an introduction to the Banner system. New users learn how to navigate through the application; understand the different types of forms used in Banner, and the parts of each form; perform queries for information; and customize Banner to best reflect their needs and preferences.

PAA006: Leave Policies and Applications [TPA SMD] An overview of VCU, state, and federal policies regarding employee’s leave including Virginia Sickness and Disability Program (VSDP), Traditional Leave Plan, Worker’s Compensation, Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), Leave Share, and Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). This course is designed to help PAs understand and enforce these policies within their departments. View to see if it's currently offered on the registration schedule.

PAC013: Managing Personal and Professional Change [TPA ECD SMD] Change is a part of life and a natural occurrence in any successful organization. Participants will examine the stages of transition and learn ways to successfully manage personal and professional change. View to see if it's currently offered on the registration schedule.

PAC015: ARMICS and Ethics at VCU [TPA ECD SMD] To improve your department’s records retention (as it pertains to PAs), security of computers, data and confidential information, and overall compliance through the use of ARMICS and the VCU Code of Ethics. PAC021: Customer Compass [TPA ECD] Positive interactions with students, visitors, faculty, and staff are critical to the continued success and growth of VCU. Participants examine behaviors necessary for successful encounters in person and over the telephone as well as the appropriate use of email. HR Partners [TPA] This periodic training series provides PAs with important HR news and information, including policy and procedural updates. View to see if it's currently offered on the registration schedule.

New Employee Orientation (NEO) New classified staff receive an overview of VCU’s history, leadership structure, mission and goals, and expectations for how to treat customers. Also included is an overview of key policies and procedures, performance management, work/life and educational opportunities, and employee benefit options.

New Faculty Orientation (NFO) This session provides a two-part overview of the various VCU benefits options plus a review of VCU policies and procedures.

Sexual Harassment Prevention (EEO Office) [TPA ECD SMD] This on-line training is sponsored by VCU's Office of Equal Employment Opportunity/Affirmative Action (EEO/AA) Services. For more information, visit training.newmedialearning.com/psh/vcu/.

Timekeeping (or two-part timekeeping online training) This hands-on session includes an overview of timekeeping processes and procedures, case studies, and an opportunity to practice entering time into the Banner system. Participants will practice using the Banner test system. View to see if it's currently offered on the registration schedule.

Timekeeping Refresher This hands-on session is for experienced timekeepers who would benefit from a refresher course. The first part of the course includes common issues and errors in timekeeping along with case studies. The second half is a hands-on session for practicing entering time into the Banner TEST System while concentrating on specific issues. HR Operations staff will be in attendance to help participants.
