Adult education

VCU training and development assists employees who seek information about adult learning opportunities.

There is little or no cost for instruction and course materials in many cases. Eligibility requirements apply for some agencies. 

Community agencies, public school systems, community colleges and VCU offer courses and training in diverse areas of interest, including:

  • Reading improvement
  • Computer technology training
  • Writing improvement
  • English as a second language
  • GED preparation and testing
  • Vocational training
  • Industrial occupational training
  • Management development
  • Career planning
  • Tuition waivers/reimbursement

Tuition Waivers (for credit courses)

Full-time classified staff and faculty may request tuition waivers for up to six credit hours per semester for courses taken at VCU. For more details about tuition waiver and reimbursement, view the Educational and Training Opportunities policy.
