David Burton, 6/7/2013 – Respect – Nominated by
Pamela G Taylor
Dr. Burton's collegial support and generous sharing of ideas, supplies, equipment and time during summer school was so valued and appreciated. All of our students benefitted as well from his appreciation of differing approaches to teaching and learning.
Lisa Webb, 5/6/2013 – Initiative – Nominated by
Sarah Gholson
Our division director, Lisa Webb, has been a great motivator for me. While proctoring exams in the testing center, I was able to study for continuing education credits to have my LPC license renewed. As a mental health counselor, I am keenly aware of the value of working in a healthy environment with a pleasant team of people. Our director sets the tone for our office and I commend her for her leadership.
Elizabeth Verser, 6/10/2013 – Respect – Nominated by
Scherley Jean-Baptiste
Your Doula-esk composure is greatly appreciated:-) You keep it sunny in the LBO even on cloudy days. Thanks YOU!
Khaleliah Williams, 6/7/2013 – Initiative – Nominated by
April Compton
Khaleliah is the hardest working employee for Advancement Services. She shows her appreciation for her employees by buying pizza on a rainy day, or sweets after working on a big project just to say thank you for all your hard work. She always has an open door where you feel like you can ask her anything. I would like to show her as much appreciation as she shows her employees!
Janet Cousins, 6/3/2013 – Initiative – Nominated by
James McCullough
Ms. Cousins has done many contributory things for me in the time she has been here. Her latest has been scanning one of my books that I will distribute to my Practicum CPSD Trainees for this Fall, 2013. I think that Ms. Cousins is a huge asset to our Department. Jim McCullough
Janet Cousins, 4/17/2013 – Responsiveness – Nominated by
Jen Elswick
Our department’s poster printer recently broke in the midst of a particularly busy printing season. Janet wasted no time in finding a solution that included negotiating the cost of a service visit rather than committing the department to a large expenditure for a new printer. While finding a fix for the printer, she used her resources and contacts to ensure that all incoming poster requests from students and faculty would be printed and delivered on time. Janet takes immense pride in her work and displays utmost excellence in service to our department. She would not have handled this situation any other way. We do not take this for granted. We thank her for her dedication, for avoiding excessive departmental costs and for the amazing work ethic she models for us each and every day.
Bradley Bower, 2/1/2013 – Initiative – Nominated by
Jen Elswick
Through his careful scrutiny of one the department of psychology’s yearly events, Bradley saved them several hundred dollars by taking the proactive stance of simply asking why they would be charged a room fee. Psychology would like to thank Bradley for his initiative in this situation; however, they also want to thank him for the excellence he brings to his position as event planner more generally. He is highly competent, respectful, helpful, and brings an elevated level of professionalism to his job. Thanks for your hard work EVERY day, Bradley!
Tony Giacco, 5/8/2013 – Responsiveness – Nominated by
Daniel Jason
Tony set up a computerized open enrollment station at our recent employee benefits fair that, for the first time, offered faculty and staff the opportunity to make elections at an on-site event using a bank of computers and a printer for confirmations. This was an unusual request and outside of Tony’s work requirements. He made the extra effort to coordinate the setup and ensure that equipment and services worked properly so that employees could complete their transactions quickly and easily and then continue to enjoy the rest of the event.
Stephen Davenport, 5/7/2013 – Initiative – Nominated by
Laurie Carter
I needed budget Board materials delivered to a board member right away today and Stephen as usual was very willing to help. Stephen is always willing to do whatever is needed to get the job done and is a team player.
Patrice Gray, 5/7/2013 – Responsiveness – Nominated by
Laurie Carter
Patrice assisted me with scanning quite a bit of information, and she handled it promptly and correctly. She is a team player who always does whatever she can to get the job done.
Jacqueline Glover, 4/24/2013 – Responsiveness – Nominated by
Regina Piercy-Ross
I would like to thank Jackie Glover and Patricia Shazer. They are always pleasant, no matter how many times you call them with questions. They take the time to make sure you understand what to do when working in Banner or eVA. Thank you so much.
Pamela Radwani, 4/12/2013 – Responsiveness – Nominated by
Kawana Pace-Harding
I am writing to thank Pamela for her assistance in scheduling the Hunton Student Center conference room and for assisting the consultant with room set up. Pamela was extremely professional, friendly, and helpful while making sure that the needs of the visitors and the consultant were met. Thanks to Pamela, the focus group meetings went very smoothly.
Alicia Zukas, 4/11/2013 – Respect – Nominated by
Delanie Stephenson
I had a stroke on June 6, 2012 at age 33. Needless to say, I was scared and didn't know what my outcome would be. Dr. Alicia Zukas was my neurologist. When she met with me, I didn't see her as a doctor. She was a friend. Maybe it was because we were both about the same age and shared common interests. I never felt as if she talked "at" me - she always talked "to" me. I would look forward to our daily conversations during my two-week stay at VCU. I knew she was assessing me as part of her job but the way she went about her work made me forget, for a little while, about my situation. She never made me feel as if something was wrong with me - she always made me feel normal. I will always be grateful for all the support she gave my family and me, even to this day. I've met with many doctors over the past year, and I have to say Dr. Zukas is one of the best.
Daniel Jason, 4/9/2013 – Responsiveness – Nominated by
Karen Fields
I wanted to take this opportunity to thank Daniel Jason, Employee Benefits Administrator, for providing information about certain benefits to my sister, who works at VCU. She related to me how impressed she was with his knowledge of all the policies and processes, coupled with his caring and kind disposition. I have always known Daniel to be a terrific colleague and asset to the HR team, but this personal experience takes my appreciation to a new level.
Patricia Pleasant, 3/27/2013 – Responsiveness – Nominated by
Susanne Croasdaile
Pat facilitated a potentially difficult room change for the upcoming semester in less than an hour, making sure that the needs of the class were met. I thank her for her diligence and speed; she makes life easier for teaching faculty!
Jennifer Elswick, 3/26/2013 – Initiative – Nominated by
Steven Danish
I had an accident last summer. I returned home from an almost 2-month hospital stay in the middle of July with limited mobility. There were a number of new tasks left to my wife to handle. Jen organized and facilitated having faculty and students bring dinners to the house, which reduced the burden on my wife considerably and made us feel cared for and a continuing part of the faculty. In the fall I was on leave from teaching as I still had limited mobility. Although I have a computer at home that enables me to access my emails, all my files and work were on my computer in my office. After asking permission, she went to my office and put all my files on Dropbox and sent them to me. All of a sudden I felt as if my home office had been transformed into my university office. She kept in continual contact with me throughout this period. Jen's contributions were really well beyond what one can expect from a colleague. What's more is that these wonderful initiatives were accompanied by a joke or a story designed to keep up my spirits
Barbara Kidd, 3/6/2013 – Responsiveness – Nominated by
Laurie Carter
Barbara played a key role in the success of our BOV event at the Siegel Center on March 6, 2013. Barbara took the initiative and made sure that all staff were briefed regarding the special arrangements for parking for the BOV members. The parking went extremely smoothly and several members commented on how professional everything was.
Dorothy Gonzales, 3/4/2013 – Responsiveness – Nominated by
Ettora Burrell
I contacted Dot to inquire about the status of a PAF that I did not see processed. She did not hesitate to return my call and provide me with the status. She is always responsive and courtesous when you contact her. She is never too busy to be courteous or return a phone call within 24 hours. Dot has a wealth of knowledge and experience that she is willing to share with anyone. I am appreciative that she is a viable member of the Human Resources Team as I look forward to working with her.
Ingrid Mercer, 2/19/2013 – Integrity – Nominated by
Meghan Barger
Ingrid has been both at VCU and working in the field of international education (specifically immigration)for over a decade, and her knowledge in her field, as well as her commitment to institutional integrity, is unparalleled. She is always working to ensure that both VCU and its students are in compliance with federal regulations, an often daunting task in the face of competing interests. Her expertise and commitment are tremendous assets to the university.
Elizabeth Hiett, 2/15/2013 – Responsiveness – Nominated by
Meghan Barger
Elizabeth has recently assumed a new role within the Global Education Office that involves the assumption of many duties she did not previously have. Many of these are related to supporting and facilitating events for the rest of our office, and Elizabeth has gone above and beyond in meeting our needs in a lightning-fast fashion. Additionally, she has taken care of several things for me that may not have even been in her job description, but she did them quickly and with a smile on her face! Her enthusiasm and expeditious nature are a breath of fresh air.
Amber Hill, 2/1/2013 – Respect – Nominated by
Meghan Barger
Dr. Hill became the head of the newly-formed International Student & Scholar Services division of the Global Education Office in January 2013, and the collegial environment that she fosters is appreciated beyond words. She is always willing to listen to those she supervises, and while she has a tremendous amount of problems dropped in her lap, she avoid placing blame and works on finding solutions. She never promises more than she can deliver, and strives to make everyone's voice heard, and everyone's content-area expertise count, in the work of our team.
Cindy Jackson, 1/18/2013 – Initiative – Nominated by
Aaron Talbott
Cindy was instrumental in working with the writing team that was creating a graphic novel for new VCU students. She helped the team understand how graphic novels are written and the information that would be most useful for the artist. Without her direction and expertise the writing team and process would not have have been as successful as it was. In addition, she was able to secure a location to meet without an hassle that provided plenty of room and space for the writing team to work.
Ingrid Mercer, 2/20/2013 – Initiative – Nominated by
Nathan Gillespie
Ingrid Mercer possesses expert knowledge on US federal immigration regulations and processes and how these parlay with various US Department of Homeland Security and Department of State agencies. She is very good at communicating the intricacies surrounding immigration both verbally and in writing. My non-native English speaking colleagues here at VCU also speak of her in a similar, high regard. As a frequent user of VCU’s Immigration Services it is important to give credit where credit is due. Ingrid Mercer is highly respected among the international research scientists here at VCU. We greatly appreciate her efforts and professionalism.
Charleyne Kelley, 2/14/2013 – Responsiveness – Nominated by
La'tisha Roberson
An external client needed payment information before the specified turn around time. While Charleyne was already performing travel authorizations and training a staff member, she took immediate action to research the wire transfer. She called a number of people and sent emails. She also followed up each day to stay on top of finding the wire transfer. As soon she received information, Charleyne came to my office to explain what happened and even offered to call the participant back for me. This is just one of the many ways Charleyne demonstrates her responsiveness. She is always quick to help however she can.
Bernie Adams, 2/12/2013 – Responsiveness – Nominated by
Andrea Groat
Special thanks to Bernie for ALWAYS being so helpful with parking for the Brandcenter's special events and blood drives. He has a smile in his voice, is quick to follow up and offer suggestions. We appreciate his cheerful and speedy response!
Taliah Elder, 2/12/2013 – Initiative – Nominated by
Mary Saunders
Ms. Elder is a Quality Assurance Inspector for Physical Plant Housekeeping. This recognition is long overdue and is for all of my encounters with Ms. Elder over the past year. Ms. Elder faithfully meets with me in-person weekly if possible. When we meet she has already inspected the building and has made notes of not only areas that may need improvement, but the areas where the housekeeper has done a good job. She always asks me if I have any concerns or needs. When the new Housekeeping contract was put in place, I asked what, specifically, was I to expect from the new housekeeping staff and she provided me with a detailed schedule of their duties. On the few occasions that I have had issues or urgent needs, Ms. Elder has been quick to respond and get the issue handled efficiently. I have witnessed her direct a housekeeper to respond to an issue, and she is respectful and professional in her presentation, while showing ease and humor with the staff member. But I must say, I think the primary quality that Ms. Elder possesses, and the one that I admire the most is her very positive, professional attitude and her always cheerful disposition. Ms. Elder represents all four points on the VCU Compass. She takes the initiative to fully inspect this building, to regularly check in about 'how housekeeping is doing' and is very good at following up on issues and never leaves me hanging. Ms. Elder treats me and the housekeeping staff well and this demonstrates how much she respects her external and internal customers, the staff and her position. She is always very responsive to any of our needs. I can depend on her to take care of any need we may have, professionally, quickly and fairly. Overall, I believe Ms. Elder's actions and excellent work ethic repeatedly illustrate her dedication to her customers and her professional integrity. Thanks, Taliah for doing such a great job!!
Lori Floyd-Miller, 2/6/2013 – Responsiveness – Nominated by
Andrea Groat
Thanks so much to Lori for helping me navigate the curriculum approval process. She's fast to answer my questions and always has the right answers. I greatly appreciate her willingness to help in such a quick and friendly manner.
Shirley Beavers, 2/7/2013 – Responsiveness – Nominated by
Beth Meyers
This recognition is for a team of three healthcare workers in the VCU House Calls Program: Shirley Beavers, Robert Usher and Penny Hopkins. These three individuals are literally the "unsung heroes" of the program because they work "behind the scenes" and often do not receive thanks and acknowledgement for the great work they do! They handle a case load of between 200 - 400 patients for a program that continues to grow. Their work runs the gamut from interacting and scheduling appointments with over 18 clinicians to scheduling patient tests, healthcare services and transportation; processing labs/bloodwork; answering patient questions and helping to problem solve. All the while, they continually maintain and update patient records. I do not work directly with this team but, over the last few years, I have keenly observed each as they go about their daily jobs. They are kind and respectful and serve as models of efficiency, all while maintaining a stellar sense of humor. VCU is honored to have such a great team working with our sick, frail and homebound patients and in helping the clinicians who take such great care and pride in caring for their patients. I am in awe of the work ethic and dedication of this team. They are in many ways the heart and soul of the program, and for that I believe they deserve recognition.
Robert Usher, 2/7/2013 – Responsiveness – Nominated by

Sarah Jane Brubaker, 1/30/2013 – Responsiveness – Nominated by
Diana Gay Cutchin
Following a faculty meeting where significant changes were announced that will have an impact on the way I perform my role in the school, I asked Dr. Brubaker for clarification and consideration of how to implement these changes. Within a day, she had discussed this with her supervisor and made a decision that was communicated to me immediately.
Betty Dodson, 2/5/2013 – Initiative – Nominated by
Beth Meyers
I work with Ms. Dodson on a regular basis so actually the "dates of interaction" are too numerous to count! She possesses not only iniative, but integrity (impecable), respect and is the ultimate in responsiveness. She is the kind of employee every company or business wishes they could have. She's fair, honest, kind, and respectful to everyone no matter their "status" here at VCU. She should definitely be rewarded not once but everyday for her tireless efforts to do her work (and often others) with the sense of pride and accomplishment worthy of a STAR! She's one of the reasons I can come to work everyday, no matter what the circumstances, with a positive, uplifted attitude!
Jacek Ghosh, 1/31/2013 – Initiative – Nominated by
Brantley Tyndall
Jacek is a campus leader with great initiative to get projects started and completed. He is a wonderful campus resource for faculty, staff, and students to get their projects underway, and he will bend over backwards to help anyone. His long-term commitment to sustainability, as well as marketing the university's efforts, have benefited VCU's reputation nationally. Through events such as the recent VCU Sustainability Conference as well as the VA Governor's Conference on Energy, annual Earth Day and Sustainability Day events, and his leadership of the innovative and overarching Sustainability Committee, he has touched many departments and offices at the university and within the City of Richmond and Commonwealth of Virginia. He is a pleasure to work with day in and day out.
Allison Ventura, 12/31/2012 – Initiative – Nominated by
Lynette Brinkerhoff
Alli has gone above and beyond in helping the CMHRC during its transition period of low staffing.
Lee Watts, 1/23/2013 – Responsiveness – Nominated by

Terri Dickerson, 1/28/2013 – Responsiveness – Nominated by
Cheryl Bishop
I would like to commend Terri Dickerson for her continual assistance to me during the hiring process of FA0070. I have contacted Terri several times with different questions and/or concerns about the hiring process and hiring forms. Terri is consistently very helpful, pleasant, and prompt in responding to me. I would like to acknowledge Terri for her assistance to me and our department. I have personally thanked Terri on several occasions but I wanted to also acknowledge her efforts.
Eduardo Vidal, 12/17/2012 – Initiative – Nominated by
Florence Johnson
Initiative, Integrity, Respect, Responsiveness - Eduardo offers it all! I started in the Division for Diversity and Equity just before VCU's Winter Break, and from my first moment "on board" Eduardo offered guidance and information to help me become acclimated to my new department. No matter much, or what, he is working on at any given time he offers genuine assistance – with a smile. It didn't take long for me to see that his work ethic is sincere and consistent. On the phone, in the office, with visitors, students, faculty and staff, Eduardo truly exemplifies excellence in the workplace. I’m convinced my opinion is shared by all who know him, and I hope this small token of recognition serves as a reminder that he is well appreciated. Eduardo, thank you!
Terry Ware, 1/4/2013 – Responsiveness – Nominated by
Tina Braden
My plate was overflowing with contracts and interviews for a vacant position. It is a wonderful feeling to be able to pick up the phone and ask someone can you help with some of the new hire paperwork and contracts while I'm participating on an interview panel. She not only came over and helped that day, but a few days later I called and stated I needed her to help once again on a few other tasks... she was there. Thank you Terry for all you do.
John Venuti, 1/7/2013 – Initiative – Nominated by
Emma Minor
Monday evening when leaving the office, I saw the new police academy recruits running along Grace Street. While I have never personally met him, I did see that 'leading the pack' was our very own Chief Venuti (wearing a bright yellow VCU shirt). I have been privileged to watch many academy recruits running over the span of two decades and have NEVER seen one of our Chiefs running with his team. I would like to commend John Venuti for his team coaching, leadership and dedication to VCU by setting a positive example to all VCU students, staff, faculty and visitors. A real example of 'going the extra mile'...
Robert Maroney, 12/21/2012 – Respect – Nominated by
Emma Minor
The day before VCU staff exited for the holiday break, I visited Rob Maroney, the new Parking Director, to solidify some parking deck level closure schedules. He advised me that on Christmas Day, no Enforcement and Safety Officers would be working that day. I could not stop thinking about his directive. Not only was this kind and innovative thinking, but it was also good business acumen and speaks positively regarding his mission vision. I wanted to commend him for this decision. Throughout many years and several management changes in the parking office, I was stunned at his new and refreshing leadership style. The Enforcement and Safety Officers do not enforce parking rules or write parking citations on Christmas Day, so it was just plain good judgement to offer his team their first Christmas Day off in more than 20 years. Kudos to Mr. Maroney.
Cheryl Bishop, 1/2/2013 – Initiative – Nominated by
Rachel Tew
I would like to personally thank Cheryl Bishop for the behind the scenes work she has done to help my classroom receive some much needed reading passages. These hi interest low reader passages were laminated and sorted by SOL and classroom they will be utilized in. Thanks for going the extra mile to help my students be successful.
Kelsey Jones, 1/2/2013 – Initiative – Nominated by
Rachel Tew
I would like to personally thank Kelsey Jones for the assistance she has provided my classroom. Not only has she worked on creating reading materials to be used in my classroom, she has been very helpful the two times I have visited the TTAC office in the last month. I appreciate her willingness to do anything she can to assist.
Erik Froehlich, 1/2/2013 – Initiative – Nominated by
Rachel Tew
I would like the Erik for his willingness to stop what he is doing to assist myself and others as we visit the TTAC office so we can have the needed access to the technology system to be able to complete our work. He is not only helpful, but is hilarious to be around.
Caitlin Bergendahl, 11/16/2012 – Responsiveness – Nominated by

She does all these amazing things with a smile on her face.
Rena McCutchen-Edwards, 12/12/2012 – Integrity – Nominated by
Margaret Phillips
Rena has been an exceptional example of upholding the integrity of VIPBG, and VCU, as her role here has been in a transition. Rena has always conducted her activities as the Fiscal Assistant with the highest of standards. In particular, she recently assisted in the expenditure clean up of an award which required her to take additional steps that were not required in order to preserve the integrity of the financials. Thank you Rena!!
Barbara Herrmann, 11/30/2012 – Initiative – Nominated by
Margaret Phillips
Barbara went above and beyond the call of duty in assisting with our Institute's P50 grant submission. She took the initiative to personally review each and every reference cited for all Investigators, made necessary corrections, and prepared bios for submission. This submission would not have gone as smoothly without her help. Thank you Barbara!!!
Carolyn Patterson, 12/11/2012 – Initiative – Nominated by
Helen Ruth Aspaas
At 1:00 p.m. on day noted, Mrs. Patterson was given a list of 20 diverse books for which she needed to search out the cheapest price and then place orders. She had to search a minimum of two websites for each book. By 3:30 of the same day, the books had been ordered. Mrs. Patterson showed not only initiative but exemplary and expeditious hard work to complete the task in a timely fashion. She did so with willingness and good grace.

Emma Minor
Kathy Mottley is the definition of a dedicated and respected member of the university staff. She is to be commended for her prompt and accurate attention to detail. She is always pleasant and helpful. Today she was able to contact a vendor and assist with a pricing dilema in just a matter of minutes.
Julia Sharp, 12/10/2012 – Responsiveness – Nominated by
Liz Beirne
On December 10, I attended a University Hearing Board hearing. This particular case made for a lengthy hearing. I participate in the car pool program and the hearing continued past the time my car pool usually departs, leaving me without a ride home. Despite never meeting me, Julia graciously offered to give me a ride home! Her responsiveness to me and the situation is to be highly admired. I have such heartfelt gratitude for Julia quickly responding and giving me, a stranger, a ride home; something, unfortunately, most people wouldn’t do. During our conversation on the ride home, it became apparent Julia is a very caring and giving individual. Not only am I appreciative for her act of kindness, but I am proud to know she is a VCU alumna and staff member. We all can learn how to Make it Real from Julia. Thank you again Julia!
Jeremy Parker, 12/11/2012 – Responsiveness – Nominated by

Kelsey is our receptionist and greets all visitors in a professional friendly manner. She assists the support team in many ways. She is currently in the process of completing the inventory of our library/labs holdings. In addition, Kelsey provides assistance to the T/TAC support team in many ways. Kelsey arrives at work each day with a smile and willingness to assist in any way she can. Kelsey is consistently friendly and respectful and handles issues in a mature and professional manner. Geraldine McInerney, 10/23/2012 – Initiative – Nominated by
Janet Cousins
Recently, I had to rerun some exams for a professor. Once in Oliver Hall, I ran into several offices looking for a copier to use but no one seemed to know where one was located. A young lady led me into the dean's office for the School of Education, where I met Geri McInerney, assistant to the dean, and her staff. Geri and her staff helped me copy and collate the papers and Geri stayed with me until everything was done. By then, I was exhausted but she just smiled and asked if there was anything else she could do. I want to recognize Geri and her staff for doing such a wonderful job.
Kristen Schultheis, 10/18/2012 – Respect – Nominated by
Mark Bassard
Kristen deserves my respect and thanks for all her hard work over the years and for the many tasks she coordinates in the day-to-day functions of the Campus Learning Center (CLC), which includes the Testing Center (my operation). The CLC also includes Tutoring, the Writing Center, Supplemental Instruction, Study Groups, Focused Learning and Foreign Language Conversation Groups, plus the activities of our wonderful front desk staff of student workers who assist students and visitors. When I experienced a personal family crisis last year, Kristen was especially helpful to me in running the Testing Center, which was no easy task as it occurred during a time when we were in the middle of handling many requests from students and community users that typically come near the end of the term. She is tremendous asset to the Testing Center and to me.
Allen Collins, 10/9/2012 – Responsiveness – Nominated by
Kimberle Jacobs
Allen Collins and Bernard Adams didn't have to help me with my flat tire in the 8th St parking deck, but they did. Not only did they 'help'. Allen immediately solved 2 problems and refused to stop until we found a solution for the 3rd problem with my car. At any point they could have said just call AAA. But they never did that. They went beyond the call of duty. Allen kept coming up with innovative solutions until all was well and I was on my way. In a difficult situation - this was very much appreciated.
Bernard Adams, 10/9/2012 – Responsiveness – Nominated by
Kimberle Jacobs
Bernard Adams, along with Allen Collins helped me change my flat tire, but it turned out to be a lot harder than your typical flat tire change. Despite that Bernard never gave up. At the end he thanked me for helping him get some practice in this situation! There was no way he was going to give up until my car was ready to drive. I greatly appreciate his hard work.
Tambre Hornsby, 10/1/2012 – Initiative – Nominated by

Given that this is a very busy time for everyone, I greatly appreciate the extra attention to detail and responsiveness that Kathy provided to me as well as my department. She found a mistake in one of our grant proposals and helped me quickly correct it before being sent to the sponsor. Her patience and assistance are very valued.
Sam Kennedy, 9/5/2012 – Responsiveness – Nominated by
Adam Crowe
Sam oversaw the support provided by Technology Services to the semester test of the alerting technologies. His prompt response to issues and challenges allowed for the multiple systems to be ready for the test that day. Likewise, after the test (at noon) he quickly began assessing issues with the alerting systems that helped us identify solutions quickly and to minimize any impact to our overall readiness.
Lelia Brinegar, 8/27/2012 – Respect – Nominated by
Brie Dubinsky
I would like to recognize Ms. Lelia Brinegar for her excellence as a resource for medical students and for administrative clerkship staff. Melanie Goodman, 7/10/2012 – Responsiveness – Nominated by

Loyalty to everyone in the VCU community, compassion for those she feels need a helping hand, and dedication to her department and the whole VCU community. I am proud to call her my supervisor as well as being in my VCU family of friends.
Raymond Blake, 9/20/2012 – Initiative – Nominated by

Tina Braden, 9/25/2012 – Responsiveness – Nominated by
Diana Gay Cutchin
Ms. Braden is always responsive to any needs I have and acts like it is a pleasure to help me instead of just part of her job. Her professionalism is unequaled in my experience and I have worked at VCU for almost 25 years. Just this morning, I needed assistance with a phone line in my office - as soon as she got the request she responded and was eager to assist me.
Chauncey Jones, 9/20/2012 – Integrity – Nominated by
Dahlia Ashford
Chauncey always displays integrity in everything that she is involved in. We are working together on an event that our department sponsors. She had a family member to become severely ill, and flew down to be with her family. While she was away, she stayed in contact with another coworker and myself to make sure we stayed ahead on our tasks for the event. She did not have to do this. She could have focused on her family at the time. A person with that much heart and integrity will not let anything get in her way. I respect Chauncey due to her work ethic and her overall caring spirit.
Lauren Mortensen, 9/24/2012 – Responsiveness – Nominated by

Stephanye Roney, 8/18/2012 – Responsiveness – Nominated by
Sara Wilson McKay
I was hoping to swap my parking spot or purchase a temporary parking spot for a colleague who is undergoing chemotherapy this fall semester. Ms. Roney literally made it happen!! Her compassion was palpable. She determined a way for the pass to be purchased without my colleague having to incur any inconvenience and she welcomed me to the parking office on a SATURDAY to complete the paperwork. It was an amazing show of kindness and dedication to fellow employees and a desire to make someone's world easier. Ms. Roney was a gift to me and my colleague! My colleague doesn't know the lengths Ms. Roney went to for her and she was completely overwhelmed by the gift of parking at this most stressful and physically taxing time for her. I am so grateful to Ms. Roney for her follow-through and her creativity in helping me help my colleague at this difficult time.

Janet Cousins, 9/25/2012 – Initiative – Nominated by

Janet demonstrates excellence in initiative each and every day and has thrown herself into project after project over the summer without being asked. For example, she compiled an excellent procedure manual for the receptionist position all at her own direction. This will greatly benefit the department for many years to come. This is only one small example of the daily display of excellence she brings to our office.
Diana Pauley, 9/25/2012 – Responsiveness – Nominated by

Diana is charged with handling all of the moves and renovations for our department and has had her hands beyond full for the month of August in particular. We want to thank Diana for her yearly devotion to this thankless task.

Because of her leadership, the Sole Patrol logged over 7 Million real steps and helped to put VCU on the virtual global map! Thank you Dana!
James Hinkle, 8/23/2012 – Initiative – Nominated by
Emma Minor
Mr. James Hinkle and Mr. Mark White responded to a work request to install a keyboard tray in my office. They noticed that my monitor, computer and telephone wires were all over the place. They took the initiative to get a drill and place a grommet in my desk and organized all the cables. Not to mention that they did not leave one speck of sawdust. They also noticed that I had a new eraser board that needed to be hung and offered to perform that service as well.

Monica is always willing to go above and beyond the call of duty, but she really put forth such an effort this week on the University's Six-Year Plan and the University Budget meetings for the University Budget Advisory Committee. Konjit Chitty, 7/19/2012 – Responsiveness – Nominated by
Takeya McLaurin
An applicant who has been having trouble with a job application stopped by unexpectedly for assistance. I attempted to assist myself but was unsuccessful, so I asked Konjit for help. She contacted the vendor for technical assistance and when she was told that the applicant would have to re-create that portion of her application, Konjit literally copied and pasted each of the many job records for the applicant.
Connie Maslock, 7/13/2012 – Responsiveness – Nominated by
Bassem Mohammed
The form only allows me to choose one date and one compass point for Connie; however, I have observed her ongoing interaction from the day I entered VCU to complete my studies. Most importantly, Connie is the heart of the pharmacotherapy department. She is always eager to help, understands anxious graduate students and is equally responsive to everyone. You only need to enter her office to know you will get an answer or the help you need. Even with all her other responsibilities, she is very organized, things are done on time and she is a kind-hearted person to all of her colleagues and students. Thanks for being such a great person, Connie!

She keeps us organized while always remaining calm and pleasant. She is the best!

Last month I was out of state for work and could not reach my co-workers to assist me with information I needed at that moment. I called Sharon and without fail she assisted me to complete my task. If she had not assisted I would not have ocmpleted my task. Whenever I have a question concerning a job if she does not have the answer she will find out and get back to me as soon as she can. She is a jewel for the School of Allied Health Profession.

Due to the unexpected departure of a coworker, Greg responded quickly to assist me in processing incoming workers’ compensation claims. Greg consistently demonstrates great teamwork and will help whenever and wherever he can. Thanks to Greg for his initiative and responsiveness. Without his assistance, the claims would not have been processed timely.
Sandra Morgan, 6/25/2012 – Responsiveness – Nominated by

Yesterday, Rebecca contacted me for some data regarding our school's diversity plan. This reminded me how much time and effort Rebecca spends, above and beyond her regular duties, to lead our school through the diversity plan effort. Her initiative should be commended and recognized by the university. Enhancing our diversity strategies is a worthwhile effort that people like Rebecca make happen.
Michael Larson, 6/25/2012 – Initiative – Nominated by
Mitzi Lee
Mike shows awesome initiative and has demonstrated this time and time again in the short 6 months he has been with VCU. The day before a big training session I had to leave work to take care of an emergency with my elderly mom. Without being asked, Deana offered to make sure the course materials were complete, packed, and ready to go. That small act of kindness made it easier to focus on my mom without having to worry about loose ends for the upcoming class. This is typical of Deana - she is always ready to lend a hand.

Linda Garrett, 5/15/2012 – Initiative – Nominated by
Lisa Phipps
I wanted to recognize my co-worker, Linda Garrett, for her help with a very complicated work issue. One of our hospital physicians was not receiving critical pager messages (it was bypassing his pager completely and going to his cell phone). Working with the different VCU offices, the physician and the VITA state agency, Linda was able to diagnose the problem (it was more than just a pager issue) and resolve the problem immediately. Linda really saved the day with her widespread knowledge. She is great to work with and a true asset to our team. This is only one example of how Linda takes the initiative to help her teammates every day she is in the office. I have worked with her for almost 10 years and, regardless of what she is doing, Linda will take the time to help others.

Laura Gariepy, 5/2/2012 – Responsiveness – Nominated by
Jeff Wing
Laura has been a terrific colleague since she began at VCU three or four years ago. She is wonderfully supportive of the candidates for nationally competitive scholarships. She is also willing to help out with whatever ideas we have to encourage our candidates to more fully utilize the research support services of the library. Laura meets with individual candidates, often referring them to her colleagues who have specific subject matter expertise relevant to the candidate's proposal. At times, she takes on a more active role in advising individual students, when she feels she can help guide their research efforts. Whenever possible, Laura will join us for workshops and information sessions we request her assistance. She has even created a short powerpoint presentation--with voice over--that we can use when she is not available to join us. On top of her incredible competence and commitment to VCU's students, she always brings a positive, can-do attitude to our collaborations. It is a joy to call Laura our colleague, and we look forward to each opportunity we have to work with her.
Diana Pauley, 5/10/2012 – Initiative – Nominated by

Since the sudden passing of my husband, I have been going through the most difficult time in my life. Jenae has been my source of encouragement and inspiration. Mary Tucker, 5/1/2012 – Responsiveness – Nominated by
Christine Reid
Mary Tucker often goes "above and beyond" the call of duty to help faculty members and students. This example of her responsiveness relates to sharing her "magic touch" with the photocopier. Our Department's photocopiers both frequently jam and break down. One evening I was alone in the office, trying to make some copies when both copiers jammed; although I thought I was doing what needed to be done to clear the jam, I couldn't get either copier to work. I went home and left notes on each machine indicating that they were both jammed. When I returned to work the next morning, both machines were working, my copies were already made for me, and Mary Tucker cheerfully offered to show me where the "hiding" jammed piece of paper had been in each machine. She didn't complain about the machines being unusable when she arrived; she just cheerfully fixed the problem and patiently showed me exactly how to avoid that problem in the future.
Keysha Bailey, 4/26/2012 – Responsiveness – Nominated by
Christine Reid
Keysha Bailey was very responsive to requests for multiple types of information needed to file accurate performance reports for three Federal projects by working late at night, after focusing on other urgent budget matters during the day. I appreciate her willingness to learn and find out new ways to access needed information.

Amy Armstrong is an outstanding Department Chair. This semester she met individually with each faculty member to ask what we think could be done better in the Department, and if there are any opportunities we see being missed, in advance of our visioning meeting. She showed profound respect for each opinion.

Sheila Baker, 5/9/2012 – Initiative – Nominated by
Takeya McLaurin
I'm scheduled to facilitate new employee orientation on May 10, 2012. Generally, each HR Generalist is solely responsible for the preparation of assigned orientations. This mostly involves making copies and putting packets together. We have HR Interns, who usually assist with this task; however, because the semester has ended, we are currently without interns. The May 10 orientation is full which means lots of copies and packets needed to be made. Sheila, along with the other HR Generalists, took time from their heavy workloads, to help me prepare for my orientation. With all four of us copying and putting packets together, the task took 2 hours. Imagine if I had to do this alone! I didn't even ask for the help. Sheila, and the other Generalists, recognized their team mate needed help and took the initiative to pitch in and help out. Thank you! I appreciate all you do and am so lucky to be part of such a wonderful and supportive team that truly works together.

Audrey Short, 5/3/2012 – Initiative – Nominated by
Tina Carter
I have the pleasure to work with Audrey through her service-learning class with the English Language Program. She does a wonderful job of preparing her students to serve in the Lobs & Lessons afterschool program. The students prepare and teach a series of cultural life skills lessons, as well as assist with homework and tennis instruction. Audrey is an excellent community partner and communicator, and is quick to modify a lesson or schedule based on the needs or challenges of our youth. I look forward to our on-going partnership and the cultural diversity her students bring to our youth and program.
Sarah Beth Yuhasz, 5/8/2012 – Integrity – Nominated by
Kristen Conover
Sarah Beth has consistently volunteered to take on more than a person should be expected to with the exit of key personnel in the Dean's Office, the Computer Center, and our Painting Departments. Her attention to detail and thorough follow through with fiscal responsibilities are top notch and as the year end approaches for the School of the Arts I have complete confidence that her strong work ethic and extreme competence will allow for an uneventful close to an eventful year.
Mary Eisendrath , 4/24/2012 – Initiative – Nominated by
Sarah Beth Yuhasz
I just want to take a moment to recognize Mary Eisendrath for the work she does that is above and beyond her required duties. She has taken the reins time and again to coordinate and organize our awards ceremonies, good-bye gifts, and generally keeps the department feeling like a family, rather than a group of disparate individuals. Mary works so hard to make sure that all of our students and faculty are recognized for their hard work. I wanted to make sure she is also.
Karen Mullins, 4/30/2012 – Respect – Nominated by
Sarah Beth Yuhasz
Karen Mullins is an excellent leader. She always shows tact and diplomacy when handling sensitive issues, and is ready to both speak up when something is wrong and praise people when things are going well. I see this most in her interactions with our student workers. She always uses a wonderfully instructive method and I can see the understanding and desire to better themselves in these students as a direct result of her interactions with them. She also is the first to recognize the hard work these students do for us and really goes above and beyond to make them feel like part of the team, not just disposable employees.
David Puckette, 5/1/2012 – Initiative – Nominated by

Dave is always proactive in performing his job responsibilities. He goes above the call of duty. Not one to stand by and wait, he jumps in and lends a hand .
Konjit Chitty, 5/2/2012 – Responsiveness – Nominated by
Takeya McLaurin
Our recruitment management system has recently undergone an upgrade. Since the system has been "live", Konjit has been so wonderful, kind, patient, and knowledgeable. When problems with the system arise, she responds quickly and accurately. I don't know what we would do without her!
Janet Cousins, 4/25/2012 – Initiative – Nominated by
Jennifer Elswick
In the span of a month, Janet has literally transformed the receptionist position to one of excellence. Not only has she brought in plants of her own to beautify the common space, she has completely revamped the storage closet and made it much easier to use for her and her co-workers. Janet takes on new requests with enthusiasm and displays an altogether uncommon work ethic day in and day out. She demonstrates excellent customer service skills, takes initiative and is a wiz at writing procedures! In addition, she demonstrates a firm, yet caring touch with faculty and students. We want to thank Janet for her hard work, attention to detail, and respect for our processes.
Enos "Lee" Southard, 4/18/2012 – Integrity – Nominated by
Laura Gariepy
Although I have selected today's date as the 'date of interaction,' I really wanted to comment on Lee Southard's continuously great attitude. In Lee's capacity as Facilities Coordinator, I see him often when he is delivering mail or addressing other issues around VCU Libraries. He is continually friendly, cheerful and simply brightens my day. It's as simple as that -- I look forward to seeing Lee and believe that he has a positive influence on our organizational culture. Thank you, Lee!
Stephani Rodgers, 4/17/2012 – Responsiveness – Nominated by
Laura Gariepy
Although I've listed 4/17/12 as the "date of interaction," I wanted to acknowledge Stephani "Nia" Rodgers' flexibility and commitment to our students in general, particularly over the past month. Cabell Library's Research & Instructional Services unit recently expanded our research assistance hours from 9pm until midnight from Sunday-Thursday, and also expanded hours on Friday evenings and Saturday mornings. As we worked to cover this large increase in our hours, Nia not only worked quickly and tirelessly to rearrange the desk schedule and make sure all hours were covered, but she also stepped in to cover many of the hours herself. In many instances, she shifted her schedule to work until midnight. Her colleagues in Research and Instructional Services are grateful to her for so readily stepping up to the plate, and constantly keeping our library patrons at the forefront of her mind. Thank you, Nia!
Schuyler Maedjaja, 3/21/2012 – Responsiveness – Nominated by

I had many updates to make to the summer schedule and Schuyler and her team (who are also wonderful) processed all the changes in record time. I am continually impressed by her hard work and positive attitude and I'm so thankful I get to work with her so closely.
Leetah Stanley, 3/7/2012 – Responsiveness – Nominated by

Jamillah Curtis, 2/28/2012 – Responsiveness – Nominated by
Jose Alcaine
I would like to recognize and thank Jamillah for helping me with a sizable Blackboard project I have. The project involves many students enrolled in various on-line sections of the project. Jamillah's responsiveness and timely assistance made the launch of these classes a reality. Without her help and initiative it would have taken me much longer to open the courses. Jamillah may think this was just part of her work; for me it was a high level of service and response at a crucial time in the project. I really appreciate her efforts and help. Thank you.
Lauren Katchuk, 2/27/2012 – Responsiveness – Nominated by
Matthew Ruland
I needed some assistance with recording some safety videos. Lauren was quick to get me 2 students (Cory Johnson and Amber-Lynn Taber, who were both outstanding) to assist. Lauren has also assisted me with my radio show on Monday nights on WVCW.org. The whole Student Media staff has been very cooperative and helpful with all my Crime Prevention endeavors.
Stacie Harris , 2/3/2012 – Responsiveness – Nominated by
Nicole Dailey
In early February 2012 the Security Division learned that a current assignment was not renewing its contract. If that were to ocurr then five employees would be without work. When I advised Mrs. Harris of the situation she quickly took the initiative to help me find placement for the staff within the department. Her efforts and knowledge helped our agency secure work for very good and dependable staff members. Without her initiative the outcome may not have been as bright.
Melvin Sexton, 2/8/2012 – Responsiveness – Nominated by

Ann Moorehead, 2/14/2012 – Responsiveness – Nominated by
Susanne Croasdaile
Ann took time from a task that she was beginning to make sure that I could get information before the start of the workday to improve the services I would be providing to consumers later in the day. She did it with a smile and gentle humor.
Stephanie Hart, 2/14/2012 – Integrity – Nominated by
Crystal Thomas
Stephanie is hands down the most down-to-earth, even-keeled problem-solver. She keeps this department going. She is thorough and gets things done as one would expect but she simply does it all with the best attitude. I wonder what would happen if should she leave our little corner of VCU. While I'm certain SOMEONE would take on her role and get things done, I am extremely doubtful that anyone could take her place.
Schuyler Maedjaja, 2/14/2012 – Integrity – Nominated by
Jody Symula
I have interactions with Schuyler throughout the academic year. She never fails to be very responsive, upbeat, helpful and all around a complete joy to work with. She is the best part of course scheduling and course maintenance forms!
Susan M. Kelley, 2/13/2012 – Responsiveness – Nominated by
Larry Walters
I work in the Renovation Department and we have a consent need to give VCU approved contractor access to buildings that they are working on, sometimes we do not have a lot of notice ahead of the needed access. Just about every time I send over a request within five minutes Susan sends back an email saying "access granted"....this is excellent service, and I think she deserves the recognition.............It is a pleasure working with someone who performs their job at this level of service!
Larry Walters, 2/1/2012 – Responsiveness – Nominated by
Cynthia Myron
For the past year, our department has been working with Larry on several renovation projects which require time sensitive responses and complex planning issues. Larry has always been a pleasure to deal with and has made our projects run smoothly and efficiently. He has provided us with the tools and resources to move through what could have been overwhelming processes. We are thankful for his professionalism, responsiveness and his clear and well communicated information. It is easy for us to compare our renovation processes with and without his help as projects we organized without his direction were far less efficient and more disruptive to our daily office operations.

Sharon Banks, 2/7/2012 – Initiative – Nominated by

Sharon Banks, as the General Practice, Executive Secretary/Administrative Assistant, went out of her way to exceed our expectations of a renovated "lunch room/coffee lounge/gathering site" for our Department. Not only did she arrange for a new microwave but she set-up shelving for the coffee area, had the bookshelves painted and made that whole room more attractive. This is how she always responds to a request - she always exceeds our expectations!!! Thanks Sharon!!!

Jessica Majkowycz, 1/11/2012 – Responsiveness – Nominated by
Caitlin Bergendahl
Jessica has been a delight to work with in her role as the Federal Work-Study Coordinator. On January 11th, 2012 she emailed out a Federal Work Study Award Tracker spreadsheet, that will help departments track their students' work-study awards, as well as a handbook and a how-to guide on using the Tracker. She has always been incredibly responsive and helpful in all of the interactions I've had with her, and she sends very clear and well-written communication to departments. I am grateful for her enthusiasm and helpfulness and for the fantastic tools she has provided to help me do my job more efficiently. She is a very valuable member of the VCU community!
Angela Nelson, 1/11/2012 – Responsiveness – Nominated by
Jordan Starbuck
For over a year I have been trying to figure out a solution to our needs in the office of sustainability regarding an issue over purchasing. I had a meeting with another individual, who then brought me into Angela's office (unannounced to her). She (Angela) stopped what she was doing, was incredible insightful and came up with not only one solution but additional solutions if the first one didn't work. She was helpful, respectful and more then willing to take on the problem. (I have never met Angela before). Again, this was not even something she had on her radar for the day. By the end of the day, she had a solution and went above and beyond in my opinion.

Cathleen Burke, 1/3/2012 – Respect – Nominated by
Karen Fields
Cathleen exhibited the utmost care and concern for me not only as a member of her staff but as an individual when I needed to be away from the office unexpectedly during my mother's sudden illness. Being treated this way by my supervisor only encourages me to contribute more to our team and is one of the reasons I chose to work at VCU and choose to remain employed here.
Daynon Smith, 1/11/2012 – Respect – Nominated by
Karen Fields
Daynon stepped in with very little notice to teach my workshops when my mother had a heart attack. Although he was busy with his own heavy workload, Daynon acted as if helping me was no inconvenience at all. Colleagues like Daynon make the VCU HR team like family to me.
Jim Toth, 12/22/2011 – Responsiveness – Nominated by

Since i have been at VCU (about 18 months) Carl has always taken time to answer my question that come up about different Architectural issues we deal with in the Renovations Department. Thanks, Lydia for your keen eye, quick thinking, and willingness to assist at a moment's notice!

This was especially apparent last year when she went on vacation and we had some special requests during that time that did not get fulfilled. Barbara never fails us, always alerts us to any issues. She is incredibly responsive to any requests we make. She is just all around one of the most competent and consistently available and hardworking people that I have met at VCU.

Calvin is a godsend every single day in the Wilder School. He is intelligent, polite, helpful, kind, good-natured, and works very hard to help the faculty with our everyday tasks and to make the Wilder School run smoothly. Jackie Myers, 12/7/2011 – Initiative – Nominated by
Deidre Henley
I called Jackie to ask her how to fill out the Salary Reduction Agreement Form. She was extremely helpful and enlightening. There are so many issues I had not known to consider! Jackie took the time and care to explain everything to me so that I understood all of my options. If Jackie had not provided such individual attention, I would have missed out on receiving all of the available benefits.
Lynn Welton, 11/21/2011 – Responsiveness – Nominated by
Mary Boyes
Lynn Welton is the Office Manager for the CTE but also provides support for the faculty of the University College. Several weeks ago, my daughter was very ill and I had to cancel my office hours and classes. When I called the UC to find someone to help me, Lynn was the only person who I could get on the phone. Despite the fact that Lynn handles a heavy work load that includes managing travel funds, leave, budget, etc. for over 50 faculty and staff, she cheerfully created a clear cancelation message for all of my classrooms and posted the messages immediately. This is just one small example of how Lynn works. She is quick, responsive, positive, and smart. I appreciate knowing that Lynn is here and that I can rely on her responsiveness and accuracy.
Becky Aycock, 12/1/2011 – Responsiveness – Nominated by
Jill Baedke
This recognition is for years of support and help to the off-campus instructors - especially me! Becky and I have worked together for over 10 (?) years - and I have never met her face-to-face! Most all our correspondence has been by eMail. After teaching over thirty online course for VCU - she is still the first person I contact when I have a problem or need an answer to a question. Her responses are timely and very supportive of the special circumstances that come with dealing with students you never see and bookkeeping that is not face-to-face. She is a vital part of the off-campus online course program. Bravo!

I truly appreciate this gesture.

LaToya is the latest and is doing a terrific job of upholding the high standards that are obviously the norm in R&R. More importantly, several of them return to consult with her multiple times during the course of the application cycle.

Mrs. Jones assists the Associate Dean in welcoming these individuals by planning informal receptions to show how important they are to us and to showcase our faculty's valuable research. She also makes herself available to assist co-workers with the same strong commitment. She is a wonderful individual and can brighten your day with her infectious smile. It has been an honor working with and learning from Mrs. Jones. She is more than just an asset to the school, she is an icon in her own right. We know her accomplishments and this recognition helps give her a day in the sun to shine as brightly as she can for all of VCU to see.

David Spivey
Ms. Scott was very helpful in resolving some confusion over a "overdue" book that I believed I had returned to the library. She resolved my issue quickly and courteously. In fact, she wasn't just courteous. She was pleasant. She located the book an area responsible for assessing damage. She explained the procedure the library follows in such a situation. I was already satisfied with my service when I received a follow-up e-mail from Ms. Scott detailing additional information she gathered after I had left. Ms. Scott was one of the good things that happened to me on November 10.

Brenda Alexander, 11/11/2011 – Respect – Nominated by
Michael Pierce
For Veteran's Day, Brenda went around the office, and asked each employee if they wanted to contribute $1.00 towards lunch for the lone veteran in our workgroup. She then gave the donated small amount of money to this employee, telling him to go out and have lunch on us. It was a simple, sweet, affordable way to honor and thank this employee for his service to our country.
Ramont Reed, 11/8/2011 – Initiative – Nominated by
Jennifer Elswick
I submitted a ticket in error to the VCU Help Desk for information regarding video conferencing. Even though the request should have gone to Media Services, ultimately, it reached Ramont Reed, technology support services, in the College of Humanities and Sciences. I do believe it would have been perfectly reasonable for Ramont to send the request back and point out the error. Instead, he contacted me to assess my needs and determine if he could help me. My command of the technical jargon was quite bad and I made several verbal blunders that would have frustrated even the most patient of people. But, true to form, Ramont was his usual patient, kind and helpful self. As a result, we were able to handle the video conferencing internally, resulting in budget savings and not having move to another location. Ramont has always demonstrated excellence in customer service, so this is not new information. But I want him to know that I/we continue to value him for his kind nature, his initiative in taking on issues (not always directly under his purview) in service to his fellow staff members, and his creative problem-solving that keeps our college running smooth. Thanks, Ramont!
Dorothy Fillmore, 11/8/2011 – Integrity – Nominated by
Jen Elswick
Thanks to Dorothy for taking time out of her very busy schedule to assist me with an operations problem on Tuesday. Her experience and wisdom are so valuable in our department and we are lucky to have her. Pamela Williams, 10/26/2011 – Responsiveness – Nominated by

An accreditation site visit team recommended the School of Mass Communications for re-accreditation. The successful outcome was possible because Pam coordinated the efforts of the School's staff to ensure that the self-study was complete and that on-site arrangements for the visit were efficiently made.
Jack Schreiber, 11/3/2011 – Responsiveness – Nominated by
Florence Johnson
In August 2007 I moved into my current position in the School of Engineering and soon realized my responsibilities included several procedures I was unfamiliar with. Jack Schreiber guided me with patience and attention to detail though he was not required to do so. Where others might offer such assistance sparingly, he was genuinely determined to help me, despite his own workload, which is quite substantial as assistant to the department chair in Chemical Engineering. Jack is a true team player. He helps whenever called upon, whether it’s one of his peers, a faculty member, a student or visiting guest. He does not subscribe to the “not in my job description” category philosophy. He will as easily deliver mail as facilitate a meeting. He has a consistently superior work ethic, willingness to help both within and outside the confines of his position, and the ability to smile through it all. He has a commitment to do the right thing in the best way. Thank you, Jack.

I wish her the best in all she does.
