Holiday calendar

Plan ahead and mark these dates on your calendar for when the university closes to observe the various holidays.

Twelve-month faculty and classified staff observe the holiday schedule below. Nine-month faculty observe the same holidays as students; they do not accrue holiday time. VCU’s holiday schedule includes any additional holiday time granted by the governor.

* Updated 10/5/2011: The governor approved an additional eight hours of holiday leave on Jan. 2, 2012 for all state employees as New Year's observance. Note: Jan. 2, 2012 is part of VCU's 2012 holiday calendar.

** VCU’s 2012 Winter Closing (Dec. 22, 2012 through Jan. 1, 2013) requires no additional hours for which eligible faculty and staff must take leave (with or without pay) to cover the time away from work. Note: Jan. 1, 2013 is part of VCU's 2013 holiday calendar. VCU resumes normal business operations on Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013.

Please note: The holiday schedules above do not apply to VCU Health System employees, as those employees are covered by their Paid Time Off (PTO) program that combines annual, sick and holiday leave.
