and Hourly Staff and
Administering Compensation ReformThe following information is provided for University hiring officials to assist in recruiting and hiring classified and hourly staff. Instructions for administering Pay Practices that became effective September 25, 2000, are included.
Classified Employees
- Establishing a new classified position (Pay Band 1-3)
- Establishing a new classified position (Pay Band 4 or above)
- Hiring an employee into a classified position
- Role change of existing employee (Pay Band 1-3)
- Role change of existing employee (Pay Band 4 and above)
- Non-competitive voluntary transfer for classified employee (consult with HR staff)
- In-Band adjustments for classified employees
- Disciplinary or performance-related salary action for classified employee (consult with HR for process)
- Providing a competitive salary offer for a classified employee
- Providing for temporary pay for a classified employee (formerly acting pay)
- Recognition award for classified employee
Wage Employees
- Establishing new wage position and hiring employee (competitive recruitment)
- Decentralized establishment of wage position and hiring employee
