For VCU Employees...

 

H1N1 (Swine) Flu Update
... Virginia health departments, doctor's offices and many pharmacies (i.e., Kroger) are administering H1N1 flu shots to the general public,
    including state employees.  The shot is free and paid for by the federal government.  If an additional administrative fee is charged, the cost 
    will be covered for VCU employees who participate in state health plans.  Click here for more information.

... For flu information, visit www.flu.gov or call 1-800-CDC-INFO.  The Virginia Department of Health will answer questions about the H1N1 flu  
    during regular business hours at 1-877-275-8343 (1-877-ASK-VDH3).

When it's the flu season . . . 
    Some good "health habits" are important!   More

• Avoid close contact.
  Avoid close contact with people who are sick. When you are sick, keep your distance from others to protect them from getting sick too.
  

• Stay home when you are sick.
  If possible, stay home from work, school, and errands when you are sick. You will help prevent others from catching your illness.
  

• Cover your mouth and nose.  
  Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when coughing or sneezing. It may prevent those around you from getting sick.  More 
  

• Clean your hands.  
  Washing your hands often will help protect you from germs.  More 
  

• Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth.
  Germs are often spread when a person touches something that is contaminated with germs and then touches his or her eyes, nose, or mouth.
